Account deletion

Delete your Tallen account

You can do this yourself, from inside the app, without asking anyone. If you have lost access to the app, we will do it for you.

In the app — the fastest way

  1. Open Tallen and go to the Workspace tab.
  2. Scroll to Delete your account.
  3. Tap Delete my account, then tap again to confirm.

It takes effect immediately. There is no waiting period, and no undo.

What is deleted, and what stays

Deleted immediately

  • Your sign-in — email address and password
  • Every active session, on every device
  • Your ability to sign in again, ever
  • The copies of your workspaces cached on the device you delete from

Stays with your employer

  • Procedures you signed off, with your name on them
  • When you signed them, and which version you read
  • Your practice history in the workspace

Why the record stays. A sign-off is your employer’s evidence that their team was trained, and it may be something an inspector asks them for. If we anonymized it when you left, it would stop proving anything — “somebody read the fire safety procedure at some point” is no use to anyone. So the record keeps your name, and it belongs to your workplace rather than to us. This is disclosed in our privacy policy, which is the basis for keeping it.

Anything you wrote in the app without an account never reached us in the first place. It lives only on your device, and deleting an account does not touch it. To remove that, uninstall the app or clear its data.

If you own a workspace

If you are the only owner of a workspace that other people are still using, the app will stop you and name the workspace. Your team would otherwise keep their access but lose the only person able to author procedures, change roles or reissue the join code.

Make somebody else an owner, or remove your team, and then try again.

If nobody else is left in the workspace, it is deleted along with your account — including its procedures, its practice history and its sign-offs. That cannot be undone.

If you cannot get into the app

Email mike@upstatelakecomms.com with the subject Account deletion request.

So we can be sure the request is yours, please tell us:

We will reply to confirm we have it, and complete the deletion within 30 days. If we cannot establish that the account is yours, we will say so rather than delete somebody else’s.

One thing we cannot do: remove a sign-off from your employer’s training record. That record is theirs, not ours, and we act on their instruction — so that request has to go to them. Write to us anyway if you are not sure who to ask, and we will help you work it out.

Backups

Deleted data survives in our hosting provider’s encrypted backups for a short period before they are overwritten in the normal course. Nobody can surgically remove a single record from a backup — but backups are never used to bring a deleted account back.
